Springfree Surprise!

We moved from the city to a country property with an acre of land last year. I grew up in a small town and have such fond memories of playing outside all day long with my gal pals. With little access to any conveniences (the closest mall was 1.5 hours away) we made fun happen with what was around us. We were immersed in fresh air and we let our imagination take us where it could. This outdoor play formed my appreciation for nature and connection to something bigger than little me.

My hubs and I want this same experience for our boys. Fresh air, physical activity and happy memories. With a major societal shift in more sedentary activities for children, we don’t want our kids falling prey to generational statistics. Studies have shown that kids are spending 60 hours per week consuming media and less than 60 minutes playing outside.
For us, this was all the more reason to provide them with a fun, safe and interactive activity in our own backyard.

So, we were on the hunt for something that could be a good fit for both boy’s developmental stages. They are 3.5 years apart and it has posed a challenge in the past when making purchases. My number one requirement is that it’s safe. We’ve already made a number of hospital visits because of their fearless pursuits.

My other requirement was that both the hubs and I could also get involved. We have forgone our gym memberships because we just can’t fit it into our family sched so we try to do whatever we can with the kids to keep in shape. Lately it’s been push ups with my little one on my back to pulling a sleigh or wagon around our property for cardio.

Being a Holistic Nutritionist I am constantly looking for new ideas to add to our daily routine that can carry us on this journey of wellness and vitality. I want our activities to nourish us on all levels.

So we brainstormed and thought that both boys love to bounce, what kid doesn’t?! Their eyes always light up when they know they are going to a party or a playground that has a jumpy castle and I normally cringe…super crowded spaces, big kids jumping on top of the little kids, and me crawling in on hands and knees to rescue my little one when he’s too scared of being trampled. Not to mention the plethora of snotty noses, smears of sweat and dirty smelling diapers filling up the space.

But bouncing on it’s own is super healthy for everyone. Actually it is one activity that offers more health benefit than any other in my opinion. The gravitational force when you move up and down increases one’s health in SO many ways. So, how could we get them bouncing in a safe and practical way?

That’s when we discovered Springfree and ended up with a trampoline in our backyard for the boys to bounce and bounce and bounce and bounce some more!

Known as The World’s safest trampoline, Springfree’s design has eliminated 90% of trampoline related injuries. I remember jumping on trampolines as a kid and absolutely loving it until I got my skin pinched in a spring or if I overestimated and landed on the ground after a big bounce. But, Springfree’s unique features have eased this worried mother’s mind.

Springfree Trampolines are constructed in a unique way using materials that make safety and fun of equal importance:

  • Mat rods: Springfree uses flexible rods to give a smooth, non-jarring bounce. The rods lie beneath the jumping surface out of harm’s way.
  • The SoftEdge: Springfree has a soft edge, which is over 30 times more shock absorbent than the safety pads on a traditional trampoline.
  • Hidden frame:  Springfree Trampoline’s frame is well beneath the jumping surface so you can’t hit it.
  • The FlexiNet safety enclosure: the patented Springfree Trampoline FlexiNet enclosure has flexible supports to cushion jumpers and prevent falls. The jumper is directed back to the center and cannot make contact with the net rods. The net is also zippered to ensure jumpers cannot fall through the opening.

And if that wasn’t appealing enough there are few more big features that sold us on Springfree. A basketball net addition (my boys LOVE the Toronto Raptors!) and the Tgoma, the first outdoor interactive gaming system. My 6-year-old is a gaming whiz. He has mastered games that I can’t even understand how to start. Now, he can play games while he’s being active AND there’s a fitness app for the hubs and I to replace our gym workouts. Seriously the best combination of technology and activity that our family could ask for.

We managed to have our Springfree set up in the backyard while the boys were inside and then surprised them with it. I LOVED watching their reaction. One of those Mom memories that I’m glad I captured on camera, but I have it stored in my heart too.

Both the hubs and I have been getting on it once the kids hit their pillows at night and have even watched some sunsets and starry nights from our trampoline oasis.
